Serenity

Colored pencil on canvas

2022, 10” x 6”

Serenity is the first of four works in my series, “Moments of Quiet.” The work uses water to convey the feelings experienced during a moment in life. The silence that follows sinking your head underwater illustrates the relieving moments unbothered by deadlines, responsibilities, and commitments. Produced only with shades of blue exemplifies the coherence in the self-revitalizing feeling.

Sewing New Memories

Oil marker on canvas

2022

Sewing New Memories represents the obscurity of making new memories. The slight bending and subtle movement of objects allude to the memories' influence on our image of reality. Romy approached this work as a still life, however, moving the traditional methods into a new dimension, adding another layer of newness to her piece.

A Still Summer

Acrylic, watercolor, and colored pencil on poster paper

2022, 22” x 28”

The third piece in my four-part series, “Moments of Quiet,” A Still Summer shares the little moment of still silence that allows us to recharge in a contemporary fast-paced life. The painting represents a slow breath through the imperfect lines and blended edges while you take in your surroundings to feel content in the little flashes of solitude.

Morning Sunlight

Watercolor on canvas

2022

This piece builds on the morning sunlight, the time before reality kicks in and people shift into work mode. Using watercolors to create a feeling of lightness, Morning Sunlight showcases the connectivity in peacefulness, how one person flows into the other, how we are all connected. While we are all individual bodies, the subjects’ blank faces connect us all in the early morning light.
